Raith Rovers delighted their supporters with only their third victory of the season as they defeated Partick Thistle 2-1 at Stark's Park, a result which will almost certainly ensure that Dick Campbell's men will be accompanying the Fife side on the downward journey towards the second division next season.

Rovers took the lead in the 12th minute when, after the Thistle defence had failed to clear a Scott Crabbe corner, Neil Jablonski fired the ball home to record his first goal since joining Raith from Dundee in mid-season.

Inspired by this early strike, Raith took command of the game and could have increased their lead before half-time with Pat Clarke and John Martin missing good chances to score.

Raith continued to dominate in the early stages of the second half, and it was no real surprise when they went 2-0 ahead, Clarke rising to head home from a Paul McMullan corner.

Thistle did manage to pull one back later in the game. Substitute Juan Ramon Escalas drove home from close range in the 82nd minute, but Raith held out to record a deserved victory.
