Thistle collected their first three points of the season with an entertaining victory over Airdrie.

From the first Thistle attack Juan Ramon Escalas and Jamie Mitchell combined only to see Mitchell's shot cleared for a corner in the first minute.

Airdrie struck back almost immediately when Owen Coyle shot from 18 yards but unfortunately it went past the post.

Both sides continued to create chances but it was Airdrie who took the lead in the 20th minute when Coyle took advantage of a short Andy Wilkinson pass-back to fire a shot which Kenny Arthur parried. However McKeown collected the loose ball and his low cross was met by Coyle who stooped to head into the far corner.

Thistle pushed for an equliser with Mitchell and Escalas both coming close before Escalas played a one-two with Ken Milne and his cross was superbly met by Escalas who dived full length to power a header passed McKeown from 14 yards.

Both sides continued to push forward before half-time but there were no further goals until Thistle took the lead in the 53rd minute when Mitchell's perseverence saw his shot blocked. The clearance fell to Hinds who had the simplest of tasks and tapped home from three yards.

Airdrie equalised in the 66th minute when a Paul Lovering free-kick was met by an unmarked Coyle who headed home from 10 yards.

Thistle re-took the lead two minutes later when a Fleming corner was headed home by Mitchell from six yards.

Despite Airdrie's best efforts they were unable to score again and Thistle held on for a deserved victory.
