MacDonald punishes Partick

Morton secured a vital three points with a 1-0 win over Partick at Cappielow Park.

The hosts got off to a flying start when Peter MacDonald rose highest to head home Michael Tidser's cross in the eighth minute.

Stephen O'Donnell came closest to an equaliser on the half-hour mark but Alan Combe did well to tip his effort over the bar.

Chances were at a premium after the interval with the visitors visibly still shocked by the early goal.

O'Donnell turned provider after the hour-mark to find Chris Erskine but Combe made another good stop with his feet.

The victory lifts Allan Moore's side eight points clear of the relegation zone as they extend their unbeaten run to four matches.
