Hamilton Academical 1 Partick Thistle 0
Pat Keogh was the hero of the day for Hamilton whose vital 1-0 win sends them one point clear of relegation rivals Partick Thistle with a game in hand.
Keogh has endured much since he joined the Accies in the summer, having arrived with a big reputation but until today failed to score.
However, if he never scores another goal he may yet have secured Accies first division football for another season.
His goal owed much to poor Thistle defending after Kenny Arthur had touched a Lee Hardy free-kick on to his right-hand upright. The visitors failed to deal with the rebound, and Mark Corcoran found Keogh at the same post for the easiest of goals.
Thistle had their chances, most notably through Stephen McConalogue who tested David McEwan from 25 yards in the first half. The same player also saw a free-kick sail over the bar in the first half.
However, in a disappointing match which was spoiled by dozens of unnecessary free-kicks, neither side performed particularly well on the day.
Once in front though, Hamilton, always defend better when Mark McLaughlin looks comfortable and assured. But the day belonged to Keogh, who has spent the season being barracked by the Hamilton fans but might just prove to be an invaluable player as the season draws to a close.
