Reserves in form

The reserve side led the way with goals galore in a 6-3 victory over Stenhousemuir at Firhill. In a game that could have easily finished 10 -5, the following Jags side produced some great football mixed in with some shoddy stuff too, Pinkowski, Anis, Haswell (Wilson), Carter, McKeown, Cameron (Barron), A Gibson (Shields), Cassidy, Ramon, Hinds, Strachan. Thistle were 2-0 up within 10 minutes with Andy Gibson and Adam Strachan netting before former Jag Martin Lauchlan set up two quick goals for the visitors. Strachan netted his 2nd before half time. Frank McKeown nodded in a fourth from a Gibson corner before Stenny netted again. Both Hinds and Ramon missed great chances but thankfully Ramon found his touch scoring twice after being set up by Hinds. Jimmy Bone had a smile on his face at the end of the game:

"We played some great football in that game although we did not defend brilliantly. We could have scored a lot more goals and had Leigh Hinds netted with a great chance at 4-2 I get the impression we would have gone on to win with a few goals to spare. Despite the miss though, Leigh had a great game and was responsible for at least 4 goals and his pairing with Ramon was very encouraging.

There were many plusses in this game, especially the younger players and I thought that David Barron did well when he came on and Kenny Haswell used the ball well in attack but must learn to defend better. However I thought Paul Cassidy was the star of the show from that respect, he did very well. I now have watched the Under 19 side twice over the weekend and there are some very good signs, however I would offer some caution in that although there are good players there, I don't think the time is right to consider them for the first team, but if they work hard and steadily improve then they will get their chance."
