Jamie Mitchell Retires

Last updated : 06 July 2005 By Mike

It is with great regret that we have to inform our supporters of the sad news that Jamie Mitchell has been forced to retire from football with immediate effect. Jamie was struggling in the opening couple of days of pre-season training and was immediately sent to see a specialist where he received the sad news that he is suffering from a degeneration of the hip joint and in order to protect his quality of life in future years, he has advised him to stop playing football immediately. Jamie has reluctantly accepted the news and confirmed to the management that he will be acting on the advice of the specialist.

Assistant Manager Jimmy Bone is gutted by the news:

"It is always very sad when a player has to retire from the game due to injury, especially when it is a player who can contribute to your team. It is a very sad situation and all we can do is be as supportive to Jamie as we can be and help him through what is going to be a very difficult time for him. It has not been a easy time for Jamie recently and all we can do is offer him all the help we can and wish him all the very best for his future."

This news mean that the clubs current lack of investment in strikers means that we only have one striker for the coming pre season
