Immediately after Thistle’s 1-1 draw with Fulham on Wednesday night Juan Ramon Escales was shown his way into the managers office to sign a 1 year deal with the Jags.

Spaniard Escales impressed in the friendly and paired up well with the un-named trialist who scored the only Thistle goal.

Derek Whyte told the official site : “With a number of other clubs watching, there was no way we were taking the chance of somebody moving in overnight to try to land the player, so we had the contract drawn up and made sure that Juan signed on. He had a good game and is certain to be an important player for us in the coming season. We were also pleased with our other trialist and the simple reason for not revealing his name is that we simply do not want to alert any other clubs about his availability. We will sit down with Mr. Trialist later in the week and see if a deal is to be offered."

The management team have also decided not to offer Richard Paquette a deal. The striker injured himself on Monday against Leicester City and with the club looking at the un-named trialist and signing Ramon Eascales it was decided Paquette was surplus to requirements.
