McLaughlan first of many to go

Partick Thistle Football Club have reluctantly parted company with Head Youth Coach John McLaughlan. Manager Dick Campbell admitted that it was a difficult task:

“John has done a tremendous job here at Firhill but with a much reduced footballing budget for next season and having weighed up the options available, a full-time youth coach is something that we cannot continue with. This decision is solely based on finance and I am sure that he will be back in football very quickly. He will remain with us until the end of May and see out the remaining three matches that we have left in the Youth league.”

Although naturally very disappointed, John McLaughlan wished the Club all the best for the future:

“Although my time here was relatively short, I feel that I have left the Club in a stronger position with regard to youth football, and although disappointed, I can fully understand the reasoning behind the Manager’s decision. I have a high regard for the work done by Dick Campbell and I am sure that he will bring good times back to the Club in the near future and wish him well. I would also like to thank all the staff and supporters at the Club who have been very supportive over the past 18 months.”
