Buckie 3 Jags 2

Dick Campbell has now had a chance to see his new side in action and took some good points and some disappointing factors out of the 3-2 defeat at Buckie.

"We had six under 19 players in the squad and I really did want to see how they would do. I have learnt a lot about them and while all did reasonably well, I still feel that at this moment they are not ready for a sustained run in the side but there is a lot of promise. John McGoldrick may be the exception as he looked very impressive.

However the tackle in the first minute on Billy Gibson was a disgrace and I told Duncan Shearer that, and what it did do was completely upset the balance of the side from the off. This was anything but a friendly and perhaps there were a couple of players looking for revenge during the game. Fitness wise though I was very pleased, they looked fit and I am sure that there is plenty left in the tank. There were spells in the game where I was quite happy but we really did miss Billy when he came off as I said it really upset our balance and shape. Credit to Buckie, they scored three great goals, but being honest results do not matter at this moment in time. I was particularly pleased though with Will Snowdon and Mark Smyth.

I left out Darren Brady and Jimmy Gibson as they had minor strains, and I will asses their fitness over the next 24 hours but hopefully we will be able to give them a run out at some point of the match on Thursday. We cannot yet give you an update on Billy Gibson although George Hannah is certain that it is ankle ligament damage, but as to the extent of the damage we will have to wait and see, although he definitely will not feature on Thursday."
